OBITUARY

What with all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person which almost went unnoticed last week.  Larry La Prise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey", died peacefully at age 93.  The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the casket.  They put his left leg in....and then the trouble started.

Your committee for the Parkside High School 35th year class reunion is:
Gary Ethridge
Karen (Ferency) Baker
Sherm MacCready
Greg (Steve) Zwick

ABOUT THIS SITE

A current list of class members will be maintained on this website and I have added a bulletin board to help collect information on the current "where abouts" of our class. Please review the Member list and if you can update or fill in any of the missing information, please post a note in the guestbook or email us at sherman@jcsvc.com and we will make the changes on the site.

I have started an email list for the class of 1968 so if you have one please let me know.

The group picture from the 30th reunion is now online. Check it out!!! For those of you who can't get enough, there is a new
"Nostalgia" page that will be updated with info from our high school years. There is also a short History page highlighting Jackson's past.

You can see an animation of the
cascades, if you have a fast connection or a lot of patience. Please view the memorial to classmates who are no longer with us before you leave the site.

The class archive contains several documents from our senior year.

Thanks to the Parkside Dancers who welcome new visitors to the website.

Friends in High School

Friends in high school are forever young.
Unchanged, they're where you always will belong.
The crowd is never gone, the pleasure stays,
The music of the moment always plays,
The time remains a field of wistful grace
To which you may return from anyplace.
Of course, you may still know them later on
When you are someone else and years have run;
And you may love them dearly, and they you,
But time must make their friendship something new.
Meanwhile, flourishing within your heart
There is a whole, of which you were a part:
A group of friends, one in love and pain,
In whom your longing comes alive again.

CLASS REUNION

It was my class reunion, and all thru the house
I checked in each mirror and begged my poor spouse
to say I looked great, that my chin was not double
And he lied thru false teeth, just to stay out of trouble.

Said that 'neath my thick glasses, my eyes had not changed,
And I had the same figure, just a mite re-arranged,
He said my skin was still silky,'tho looser in drape'
Not so much like smooth satin, but more like silk crepe.

I swallowed his words hook, sinker and line,
And entered the banquet, feeling just fine.
Somehow I'd expected the classmates to stay
As young as they were on that long-ago day

We'd hugged farewell hugs. But like me thru the years,
They'd added grey to their hair, or pounds on their rears.
But as we shared a few memories and re-told class jokes,
We were eighteen in spirit, tho we looked like our folks.

We turned up our hearing aid volumes
and dimmed down the light,
Rolled back the years,
and were young for the night.
